Being an agent is by no means an easy job. In order to earn an income, you need to work hard in order to close a deal with your prospective client, who is drinking coffee in his promotional cup. It is not enough that you know how to deliver your sales pitch but should also possess excellent convincing skills.
I remember the time when I worked as an agent months after my graduation from college. I was working for a promotional items company. I used to carry the product in nylon back packs. I considered the product easy to sell but then again I was wrong. Even if I had already finished delivering my sales pitch, I found it difficult to close out the sale simply because I lacked convincing skills.
I had to brave the rain in order to make it to my appointment with my client. I had to be in my best promotional apparel just to be able to impress the client. Even if I brought along a promotional umbrella, extra work is needed to succeed as an agent.
Another important key to succeeding as an agent is organization skills. Before I go out and do my thing, I had to list down all the things that I need to say in my portfolio promotional. To separate the urgent from the important, I needed to use different shades of promotional pens. Now I can see why not all people are cut out to succeed in sales.
